A smart hole drilling system: By joiners – for joiners

One hole, two holes, a whole row

Two master joiners gave some thought as how to produce a row of holes as simply, quickly and accurately as possible. They developed a drilling template ready for series production. The “lochness32”, however, also helps when drilling holes for connectors and drawer rails.

Josef Schafheitle and Tobias Lehmann, master joiners from Radolfzell and Königsfeld, were not really happy with the templates currently available on the market for manually drilling rows of holes. Their verdict: lengthy set-up times, too many sources of errors, and not variable enough in their use. True to the joiner’s motto “What doesn’t fit, is made to fit!“, they developed their own drilling template at 32 mm intervals.

Even during the test phase feedback from other joiners was very positive. Suggestions to extend the system to drawer rails and connectors encouraged them even more to realise also this option. The test phase has now been completed, the “lochness32“ patented, and is ready to go into production. It is also generally available in different sets or also as single components …
